Re: Administrator Account

Benzo,

I'm sorry that it took a reinstall to fix your problem, but glad that it is fixed now and that you had fun learning doing it.

Re: Administrator Account

Can anyone help me on my Administrator Account problem??? Here how it goes.... First, I set up my Administrator Account ACTIVE then, I decided to do another Account as Standard Account and turn off the Administrator but I accidentally delete it the Administrator Account.. Now I cannot access my Administrator Account coz it wont appear anymore. Then, I cannot even open the Account under COntrol Panel coz the system wont allow me coz in my Administrator Account I activate both Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Without the Administrator I cannot click "OK" whenever it appears maybe coz it needed an approval from the Administrator. Currently, I can used my system on minimal functions. Please tell me what to do? Tnxs!!!

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Mike,

Since you do not have a administrator account anymore, you may be able to boot into Safe Mode with the built-in Administrator account already logged on to it. From within Safe Mode, see if you can create a new administrator account again to use. This tutorial will show you how to boot into Safe Mode if needed.

Safe Mode

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Robert,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Sorry, but the only way to change a user name for the C:\Users\user name folder is to create a new user account and delete the old one.

You cannot change the one for the built-in Administrator account though.

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Brink,
What think you of Start > type LUsrMgr.msc > click on same under the "Programs" list > Click on Users in the console tree panel > rtclk on the Administrator account > Properties > enable/disable account as desired.

Can also change password, add/delete user accounts here.

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Karl,

Yes, that's another good alternative. However, LUsrMgr.msc is not available in the Vista Home Basic and Home Premium editions.

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Shawn
thought I remembered lusrmgr.msc being there, at least as a part of compmgmt.msc (rtclk on Computer > Manage) on the Premium version. I've never had the home basic version.
