Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Shawn,

To confirm, your reg "undo" code did remove the lowdisk & the StartMenu reg entries but there is still a ""NoDriveTypeAutoRun" entry in the "
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"
section.

Did you code reactivate the disk autorun?

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Rich,

The autorun code left is the default setting when Vista is first installed, so it should activate it again.

If you wanted to disable the low disk space warning, then you will need to follow all of the instructions in the tutorial to do so. The "NoLowDiskSpaceChecks"=dword:00000001 by itself will not work.

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

I have read all the postings I could find on removing the low disk space warning, but am unsure of the fit to my problem:

HP pavilion with Vista Home Premium (32 bit). Drive D: is the recovery drive. It came from the factory with a 7.08G partition for D:, and 7.08G used, all for the recovery files. It says it has 5.64M of free space. The Low Disk Space warning is on almost continuously.

I've gleaned two choices: remove the drive letter, or remove notification for all drives. I'm not crazy about removing the notification for all drives. Also, one of the previous postings indicated that the procedure wouldn't work for recovery drives. My question concerning removing the drive letter: if the computer no longer sees the d: drive, then will I be able to access the recovery files in the event Vista eats itself and I need them?

Any help on how to squelch the warning greatly appreciated.

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Hi RNN,

Yes, you will still have access to your recovery partition since you will normally access it by pressing a key (usually F10) at the start of boot up.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Windows create the low disk space warning to alert computer users to indicate there is not enough space on the disk. When this warning pop out, it means that you will suffer a big risk of data loss and low work efficiency with the computer.

In this condition, the system partition should be extended. After that, the low disk space warning will disappear.

If you are Vista users, you can extend the system partition with the Disk Management tool. (Step Two) Disk Management - Delete and Extend

If you are XP, RAID or server users, here is a way for you to solve low disk space warning: How to Extend System Partition, Enlarge or Extend C: Drive Partition?
