| Vista Home Basic | Re: Index - Enable or Disable I use it too. Here is what the XP one looks like, showing the preview. I can't find that feature in the Vista search. Windows Desktop Search - All about Windows Desktop Search http://z.about.com/d/windows/1/0/c/4/-/-/wds013.jpg I don't know what might happen if I tried installing it on Vista. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Index - Enable or Disable You could turn on the Preview Pane in Advanced Search the same way as in Windows Explorer after you type in something to search for. I do not know how that would react by installing it in Vista. It would not be a good idea. |

| Vista Home Basic | Re: Index - Enable or Disable OK. I would like to do that and have hunted all over for the switch to turn on preview, but cannot find it. Where would I look? I can click the item, but it then opens the file, and there is no preview pane I can find. Is there some other option that must be turned on? I have my Vista looking more like NT or Server 2003 than than Vista out of the box. Are we even talking about the same thing? Here is a shot: |

| Vista Home Basic | Re: Index - Enable or Disable Well, I'll be hornswaggled! It was there all the time and I missed it. I figured the newest version should be best, but did not see that item. Thanks. I'm glad I asked. Now, how do I get it open in Advanced mode every time, assuming I am using Windows+F? (I got it open maximized each time by closing it with Ctrl held down). And is there any way to bracket dates, or just <, =, or > ? And, the preview pane does not seem to always stay on for some reason. I have had to open it multiple times. This is not entirely intuitive. I suppose I need to find the FAQ or read the help. Thanks again. Thanks. |
