Re: Welcome To The Tutorials Section

Well pal, I promise you that if I find the solutions to get my new system up and running, I WILL send you the $129 I would have spent on geeksquad.

BTW are you a gamer?

Hi uhaligani

Vista x64 Forums is owned and subsidised (quite heavly) by me, I am an IT manger for a frieght distribution company in the UK, running this site as a hobby in my spare time.

The site is hosted from a data center in Texas and staffed for free by passionate Vista x64 users from around the world. The membership consists of Vista users needing or wanting to give help.

As it states in the donations section, this site costs several thousand dollars a year in hosting and licences, the online advertising goes some way to cover these costs, but the shortfall comes straight from my pocket, which is why the donations page was setup although nobody has ever donated lol.

Re: Welcome to the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista Forums Tutorial Section

Hi John & Shawn,

I have just submitted my first tutorial, 'How to Import & Export Favorites in IE7', but unfortunately I was unable to select the correct header image (I wanted the IE icon) because the browse function was missing under the 'Header Image' section. Other than that, I found this to be straight forward, and will tidy it up when I have more time.
Another question. I have used 18 images in this tutorial. Do these images remain in my allocated image store, or can I empty this without my images being lost?

Nice work Dwarf

I'm not sure what your talking about with regards to the image store, I know I have set no limits on the amount of pics etc a user can upload (although this may change next week with the new version of vbulletin) so for now just forget about it.

Re: Welcome to the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista Forums Tutorial Section

Hi Dwarf,

Great Tutorial.

I added the IE7 icon to the tutorial, and the Favorites User Folder as an option to be selected to if you wanted to.

If you delete any of the Attachments in your user Control Panel, then they will also be deleted in any of your posts and tutorials that they are in.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks John & Shawn for the answers to my questions. The response about attachments may also help others who were thinking about the same idea.
Also, thanks to Shawn for correcting the header image for me.

Re: Welcome to the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista Forums Tutorial Section

Hi John & Shawn,

I have been working on a new tutorial as suggested by one of the forum members, and unfortunately I have come across a problem in that my allocated attachments space is going to be exceeded. How do I avoid this problem without losing any of my attachments? Can this be done by using the 'Upload File from a URL' option (can you please explain how this option works, and what kind of files can you upload), or is there some other method such as storing the images on a remote server and linking to that instead? If this is the option, how does it work, and are there any free solutions available that you recommend?

Ok it seems there was a limit

I have now set your account to have unlimited attachments, so give it a go now and let me know how you get on.

Re: Welcome to the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista Forums Tutorial Section

Thanks John. I have now finished the Tutorial and have had no problems with the attachments. I have also re-done the images for you so that the red band isn't showing, although I did include one image with it just for illustration purposes to show the default settings with the 'Snipping Tool'. Thanks also for amending the icon at the start, and also for the assistance with the initial image.
