Re: Welcome To The Tutorials Section

Any chance of a little more details of the owner and the list of members on this site?
I find it difficult to consider donating to an organisation without the slightest reference to its origin!
Googling only gets me to a building with which I am slightly familiar, conating a web hosting facility.

Re: Welcome To The Tutorials Section

Hi uhaligani

Vista x64 Forums is owned and subsidised (quite heavly) by me, I am an IT manger for a frieght distribution company in the UK, running this site as a hobby in my spare time.

The site is hosted from a data center in Texas and staffed for free by passionate Vista x64 users from around the world. The membership consists of Vista users needing or wanting to give help.

As it states in the donations section, this site costs several thousand dollars a year in hosting and licences, the online advertising goes some way to cover these costs, but the shortfall comes straight from my pocket, which is why the donations page was setup although nobody has ever donated lol.

Re: Welcome To The Tutorials Section

Ok John, that's fair comment. I'm surprised it costs so much but it isn't my field!
Perhaps more donations would be forthcoming if there were more links (as is normal) to the membership and Administrative pages. I doubt if anyone with normal acumen is going to donate to a totally anonymous site.

Re: Welcome To The Tutorials Section

After just being here a few weeks I felt it necessary to make a small donation
and I will continue to do so every month.

Why?

Well just the invaluable tweaking guides and helpful and polite admins on this forum make it worth it.

Re: Welcome to the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista Forums Tutorial Section

Don't get me wrong, I find your tutorials very useful. But couldn't you either provide printer-friendly versions or scale down the size of the pages? It's bad enough to have to scroll left and right to read some of them, but it's nearly impossible to print them without spending inordinate amounts of time cutting and pasting into a word processor and deleting graphics, fiddling with fonts and margins, etc. We don't all have huge, hi-res monitors or the ability to print on legal size or larger paper.

Other than that, it's great! ("Other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?")
