| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Explorer Folder View settings Thank you so absolutely much for this tutorial! I have lots of storage on my main PC (a few TB) and was having problems with Vista remembering the folder settings - particularly with folders containing huge amounts of photos or video files. Explorer would even crash periodically when opening one of these folders and/or copying contents between these folder types. This simple tutorial (and also the .reg file) has literally brought me so much joy. Thanks to Google for leading me to this tutorial and forum... |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 | Re: Windows Explorer Folder View settings Hi MilesAhead, Give this a try. It prevents XP from being able to see Vista, which may prevent it from messing with Vista when you switch OS's. It may do the trick for you. System Restore Points - Stop XP Dual Boot Delete Shawn HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags is crucial to Explorer folder settings. I'm thinking if I'd rather keep it so that I can see my Vista drive when XP is running would this solution work: get the Vista explorer folder settings the way I want them, then export that key to a .reg file. If the view settings get hosed, run the .reg file to restore them? Or is there a bunch of other junk in those settings to hose my setup? |
