| Vista Business 32 bit | Re: System Restore Point - Shortcut Thanks for the helpful shortcut it works great, I do have one issue that may easily be solved. I wanted to move the icon from the desktop and place it in my custom start menu along with other system related shortcuts I moved there. It works at that point but when I remove the Icon from the desktop, then try to run the restore by clicking on the icon in the start menu, I get "the item you selected is unavailable. It might have been moved, renamed, or removed. Do you want to remove it from the list?" When I put the Icon back on the desktop it works from either location. It seems to require the desktop Icon in order to work. Its not a huge issue but rather a curiosity as to why. Either way thanks so much because it does work great! |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: System Restore Point - Shortcut Hello Dawgar, and welcome to Vista Forums. It sounds like you may be creating a shortcut from the shortcut instead of copying or moving the shortcut to the hidden C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder to be placed in the Start Menu. If you create a shortcut from a shortcut and delete or move the original shortcut, then the other one will no longer work since it's target (original shorcut) is no longer there. Hope this helps, Shawn |
