| window vista | Re: Startup Programs - Enable or Disable Hello Shawn! I have one startup problem with 3 consecutive annoying pops-ups. Whenever my computer startups, these three dialog boxes pops-ups always asking me if I want to run these files. They all have a check box option to disable them. However, each time I uncheck these boxes, they always reappear every time a new startup commence. First one: C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe. Second one: C:\Windows\System32\hkcmd.exe. Final one: C:\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe I know how to disable\/remove them but I think these programs are critical to the system operation. Can you please help to eliminate these eyesore promts? Thanks in advance. Last edited by bennys; 12-02-2008 at 04:14 AM.. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Startup Programs - Enable or Disable Hello Bennys, Here is a description of each file: igfxtray.exe, hkcmd.exe, and igfxpers.exe They look like they are all part of you Intel graphic drivers. You can use Option One - Method Two in this tutorial to create a task to run these at startup instead, then disable them in the normal startup program list. Hope this helps, Shawn |

Hope this helps, Shawn Before I go ahead and use the the recommended method you are referring to. I just want to double check if it is the correct one before I start. METHOD TWO: Through Task Scheduler which redirects me to see this tutorial "How to Create a Task in Vista Task Scheduler". Is it the correct one? If so, what would be the action for this specific task? Thanks. Last edited by bennys; 12-01-2008 at 02:12 PM.. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Startup Programs - Enable or Disable Yep, that is the correct one Bennys. You would just create a new task there for each exe file using this: ![]() Quote: NOTE: Create a task to Start a program (Step 20) with the program's EXE file, check Run with highest privileges (Step Four), and have it set to be triggered at startup (Step Five). |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Startup Programs - Enable or Disable i was trying to get a game to run correctly and i disabled all the startup items to see if one of them was making it run funny. it wasnt. and now the startup items wont come back on. i click enable all and ok nothing. i click one or two and apply nothing. it doesnt even ask me to restart so it obviously has no intention to listen to me. what should i do? |
