| vista 32 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista i have a windows vista 32-bit home premium, the problem is that the boot up screen takes too long, the scrolling bar moves 24 times along, compared to a safe mode boot which only takes about 14 scrolls. what could be my problem? |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista In the start menu search type msconfig and hit enter. In the Boot tab check the box for Boot Logging. After you reboot search the Windows directory for ntbootlog.txt You can look at it in notepad. You'll probably see a whole bunch of lines like failed to load driver c:\xxxxx\xxxx.sys You have to find out what the drivers go to. It may be stuff that's no longer on your system. If your machine came with Norton stuff, and you uninstalled it manually or using de-crapifier type program you will probably need to download the Norton Removal Tool and run it. Google on the driver filenames before you do anything. Also it's a good idea to make a restore point and if you have an image backup program, back up your system in case it gets muddle to where it won't boot at all. If you find out more and it's not obvious what to do, post again. Before messing around too much make sure you have a way of restoring your system to at least get back to where it is now. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Hello Dr_Sdaa7, I would recommend to use another program or see about increasing the horsepower of your system if it is needed. Yes, you can translate this tutorial as long as it is not translated into English and that it is linked back to this tutorial. Shawn |
