| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Ok, I don't know what's going on but Vista this shouldn't be happening. I did quite about half of all your Vista performance tricks, and didn't want to complete others because of other reasons. Vista has improved, boot up is faster, shutdown is better, and overall my computer functions better. However, my computer's CPU and RAM usage is working 2x as much as it was before I did those little tricks. What's going on? iTunes, Firefox, and mIRC run at about 3% idle now, vs. the 1% idle I have had for the past month. When I first boot up and log in, my RAM usage is at 21% vs. the 24% I used to have. However, now RAM usage is going up a lot, lot faster. In just 5 minutes, doing anything, even just opening a folder, then my RAM usage will shoot up to 28%. Right now my RAM usage is at 47% and my computer has been on for 40 minutes. The highest my RAM usage has ever been before I did your performance helper tutorial was 34%. Can you explain what's happening? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed Up the Performance of Vista Hello Blaqkie, and welcome to Vista Forums. I'm not sure what may be causing this since none of the tips should cause this. You might look in Resource Monitor to see what specifcally may be using this much of your resources. You can also try a System Restore using a restore point dated before you had this high usage to see if it can help. Hope this helps, Shawn |
