| Vista Business | Re: User Account - Delete I am having a problem to this. I have an administrator accout that I cannot access . My account is a standard account. I need to delete the Current administrator account, but my computer will not let me change my account from standard to administrator. I cannot access the administrator account even in safe mode. This administrator is not the hidden default account, as I cannot activate it from my standard user, even running the C:\ Prompt as the administrator. I need help on how to or delete the Administrator account and change my account to the new administrator account to create a new account for my parents. Thanks. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: User Account - Delete Hello Guitarafeather, and welcome to Vista Forums. Is there a reason why you cannot access your administrator account? (ex: forgot password) If so, then we may be able to help with this to get you access again. ![]() Shawn |

| Windows Vista™ Ultimate x64 | Re: User Account - Delete I think you said you could get a command prompt as an administrator? If you can type; Net localgroup administrators /add %username% This will make you an administrator ... |

| Vista Business | Re: User Account - Delete Well, today I just happen to get access to the administrator. The problem was Group Policy Client server cannot logon. I got on, but it couldn't open the account so it used a temporary account profile. Then I changed My account to an administrator, but didn't change the current administrator to a standard. Then I logged off and didn't enable the built in administrator. I had to restart the computer to finalize the adjustments I had made. When the computer restarted, I tried to get on to either of the administrator accounts, and now both have the Group Policy Client server problem. Now I am on a standard account ( my brothers) and need assistance again. Also, I don't have a clue what this Group policy client is. This is just my home computer and we have AT&T and are not part of any group server thing. Last edited by guitarafeather; 08-10-2009 at 08:57 PM.. |

| Windows Vista™ Ultimate x64 | Re: User Account - Delete Okay, I have no idea what you're talking about ... you're not very clear. What is the exact error? Is it Access Denied? Have you checked the security permissions to make sure the user account has the correct permissions to access the folder? Eg - User "Tom" has access to the "Tom" folder? Is the group policy service started? (Gpsvc) Run command -> Net start Gpsvc Have you checked the user profiles to make sure everything is okay? Try making the profiles local from the advanced user configuration in the control panel... Please reply, it lets us know if you need more help or if this worked. Good Luck PainlessTorture |

| Vista Business | Re: User Account - Delete Now you have confused me. I'm not trying to access a folder, I need to get on at least my account and get the Built-in Administrator to activate, and then change my account to a standard again. The Problem is that when I try to access either of the Administrator accounts, the Group Policy Service Failed logon, what ever that means. I From the best of my knowledge, all the acounts are local. I have already been to the advanced user configuration several times, and Roaming is not even selectable. And, I have to do do all the work and commands from one of the standard accounts on this computer, both of which do not have any problem with logging on. It is just the 2 administrator accounts that have the Logon problem. |

| Vista Business | Re: User Account - Delete I have attempted to use the command prompt, and it will not let me do it. It gives an Error 5, access is denied, even when running it as administrator. |

| Vista Business | Re: User Account - Delete Almost any command. I right click and run as administrator, but it still will not let me do anything. I can't even go back to a restore point and fix at least my account. |
