xcacl performance

What kind of performance degredation should I expect by running xcacls
to add read access for one file that already has a few hundred acls
set for other users?

You might be better off creating a group for these hundreds
of users. I also wonder how your question relates to scripting.

xcacl is a vbs script provided by microsoft to the public.

groups aren't an option - I'd end up in a worse situation, with one
group for every file (they're all unrelated), thousands of files.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought your question related to the
machine's performance during file access. It now appears that
you're asking how running xcacls.vbs affects the machine. If this
is of concern then I would run the command after hours. Since
this is a one-off event, there shouldn't be any problem.
