| | Help with script Hello, I need help with a script, what I would like it to do is scan though a share look for a particular file, copy the file and rename it to the name of the computer that it was on... for example the file is acb123.txt ... search for that file and then once it is found rename it to computer1acb123.txt... any help would be appreaciated. Thanks Gavin... |

Perhaps one of your difficulties is in the statement of the problem "scan through a share looking for a particular file" - likely means to search through all folders for a particular file. But what is particular about it? Are all of the filenames guaranteed somehow to be unique? "copy the file" - copy it where, to some other location, or just to the clipboard? "rename it to the name of the computer that it was on" - means to rename the original file or the copy, which presumably may now be located elsewhere? If you copy a file and then rename it, it might be simpler to copy it under a new name. /Al |
