I have an example VBScript program that uses the FileSystemObject to search
for files that have a given text string. The progam is linked here:

Re: parse files

Hi Richard,

I quickly perused your script.

Is there a reason you aren't parsing files with regular expressions?
Instr, Left, Right are so 90s.

A good RegEx example using matches, grouping, and substitutions would
be very useful.

I disagree with you about the easier to understand part.

I agree with you about the special meaning part.

InStr is extremely fast, simple, and doesn't require
loading an extra library. When one is looking for a specific
string within a string, what could be more sensible? In any
case, abstruseness as fetish is hardly a new fashion
of the 21st century... unfortunately.
