VPC and Redneck Rampage

I know, I know, but this silly game is the reason I installed Virtual PC
.. I got 98 installed fine, but can't for the life of me get a sound out
of the game. The setup file loads correctly, but none of the sound card
options work. Seems like I had the same problem back in the day, but
can't remember the fix, and apparently all the web sites devoted to this
game are long gone. Anybody help with this admittedly unimportant conundrum?

My vague recollection was that this was a DOS game rather than a Windows
one.

Either way, my kids loved this thing and I remember having similar problems
first with the demo and then with the full release game. The solution for
the demo didn't work for the full release, or vice versa. At least here. I
had a for-real SoundBlaster-16 and as I remember I had to tinker with the
AUTOEXEC settings to get the thing to work. Something about DMA channels, I
think.

Yeah, everything else works. It's something related to the game, I just
can't find the right combination.

Yes. The latest version of VPC creates VMs which emulate an AMI BIOS
v08.00.02. Hit the Delete key as the VM is booting up...
