virtual pc 2007,accidently,the winxp OS was damaged and disappeared, but all
the files in the virtual hard drive is still there, virtual pc 2007 is still

Have you tried creating a new vm and attaching the problematic .vhd as a
second virtual hard drive?

One way is to access the virtual hd image directly from the host, using the
VHDMount included with Virtual Server:

Easier and less hassle is using WinImage (winimage.com).
It is able to open a VHD file and allow access to the files inside.
And it works "out of the box".
I never got VHDMount working at all...

Just for the heck of it, i just attached my DOS6.22 .vhd as the second disk
of my WIN98SE VM. It came up just fine and W98 "My Computer" showed that it
had been auto-assigned as Drive D.

(Oh, I removed it after testing. I guess if I had both VMs up at once there
could be some kind of collision...............)
