There's quite a bit of info on my website (see sig) for installing OSes, basic information, etc. You will need to install each OS you want to use on it. Your HW req's for your desktop would be: Host OS reqs+guest OS reqs for each VM you want to run concurrently. For example: Host OS: XP --> probably at least 512MB of RAM guest OS1: SBS-->min req for SBS (say 1024MB) guest OS2: XP -->test XP VM for SBS 256MB so figure 2GB minimum. Also, I'd recommend moving your guest OSes (VMs) off your main host OS's drive to another drive...2nd internal HD, USB/FireWire/eSATA, etc. You'll see a marked improvement in performance of both host and guest OSes when you're running them. -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ I do not work for Microsoft. |

| | Re: Virtual PC 2007 I will take a look at your site for tips/instructions. Thanks for the advice on the additional hard drive. The one time I did use it, my system was definitely slower. I'll add the hard drive to my list of system upgrades. The performance equals an internal SATA drive and is several times faster than a usb or firewire enclosure. Plus you get portability. If you don't have an eSata port you can add a card. If not then a usb drive gives satisfactory performance. |
