| | Virtual Machine Display Resolution and VM Additions Without VM Additions installed I am able to select up to 1024x768 with 32bit color. After VM Additions are installed I only have 800x600 with 4bit color available. Any ideas? Virtual PC 6.0.192.0 running on Vista Business SP1. | | Re: Virtual Machine Display Resolution and VM Additions You might need SP2 or SP3 for XP with that version of additions installed, though I'm not sure, I haven't run into that problem. It only officially supports SP2 and SP3... -- Bob Comer On Thu, 7 Aug 2008 12:46:10 -0700, James <James@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Guest OS - Windows XP SP1 |

| | Re: Virtual Machine Display Resolution and VM Additions Thanks. I was wondering if that might be an issue. I am currently working through the Windows Updates toward an SP2 upgrade and will advise if that resolves the issue. -- James "Robert Comer" wrote: Quote: > You might need SP2 or SP3 for XP with that version of additions > installed, though I'm not sure, I haven't run into that problem. Are you in a 'saved state situation", if so change display properties to 32 bit and accept, and shut down the VM. Boot the VM and it may have 'taken' -- it did for me with Vista. (That was the only OS where I had that problem) Screen resolution: With the machine in 'not running' state. Click Settings>Display>Virtual Machine Resizing Options. From the drop down box, choose 'Use guest machine screen resolution'. Boot the VM. Change the display properties to your desired resolution. Shut down. Boot the VM. It should have taken now, it did with several machines for me -- Win 2000 was the first, Vista was the last............ FACE |
