Installing Windows XP on Virtual PC 2007

I'm trying to get XP Pro installed in Virtual PC running on Vista Ultimate.
VPC installed just fine and when prompted, I inserted my Windows XP Pro SP2
DVD (MSDN Disk 2430.2). XP installs normally up to the point where Setup
prompts for the Product Key. I've entered 2 valid Product IDs but I keep
getting the message:

The Product ID you entered is not valid.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you're matching the right number to the right CD? VPC
knows nothing of the OS during the install and Windows knows nothing
of VPC during the install.

Are you absolutely certain you're entering the correct product key? Since
this is XP Pro from MSDN, are you entering the product key you got from
MSDN?

Re: Installing Windows XP on Virtual PC 2007

It was indeed my error. The fine print on the MSDN DVD was that it the XP Pro
version I was installing was a volume license version; I was entering a
standard XP Pro key. When I entered my VLK, the installation proceeded. Now I
have another issue I'll post on a separate thread.

Thanks!

Re: Installing Windows XP on Virtual PC 2007

The XP I was installing was a volume license edition and I wasn't entering
the VLK. Finding and entering the VLK enabled installation to resume.

Thansk!
