Vista - Just looked at vmware esxi...why would I install this instead of v

I went to the vmware site and read the info on the free esxi download. Says
it has a small footprint (32mb) and from what I could tell, it runs vista64
in a vhd. So I signed up, and then the surprise! The download is 240mb.
Why in the world is a program with a "small 32mb" footprint requiring a 240mb
program to install it. Am I missing something. I heard it was a good
program.

You shouldn't be asking why you should be using ESX compared to using
VPC.

You should be asking yourself why your still using VPC at all.

The VMWare download is hugh because you need to install the OS that runs the
small footprint. It installs it's own version of Linux as I recall.

VPC and VS would be hugh too if they included the Windows OS in the
download. If you want to play with a similiar product try the VMWare Server
1.6, it runs on top of Windows or Linux and is also a free download. Not a
limited time trail either.
