Does Virtual PC protect me from malware?

I'm looking for a secure way to do online banking.
I thought I'd load win2k on vitrual PC and use that.
If I never go anywhere else, I shouldn't acquire
any malware.
But...
If there's a keylogger on the host OS, VirtualPC won't
protect me against that at all??? yes, no?

Anything I can do to make my virtual machine secure?
Thanks, mike
