| | Virtual pc 2007 sp1 installation failure I have been trying to install vpc on my vista ult 64 laptop. The installation fails when trying to apply the 64 net work driver. i get the bsod ndis.sys displayed. I can then only get the machine up and running in safe mode with networking. I have tried uninstalling net work services from network connections and then have to delete virtual machine servcies from registry as best i can. After this is can start windows normally. With out virtual pc every thing is fine. Allow virtaul pc network services to exist and get above bsod ndis.sys. This is the last few lines of the log file. I have delete everything from windows\temp and user local temp, deleted the virtual machine network services entries i am allowed to from the registry. i have the following network adapters. intel wirless wifi link 4965agn with 2008/08 driver and realtek ethenet rtl8168b again with latest driver. i have tried completely uninstalling all net work adapters and removed all virus software, but still get the same issue. I know its not hardware as if i install windows ult on another partition and then install vpc 2007 sp1, all works as intended. I suspect there is some coruption or conflict some where. If any one can point me in the regiht direction to over come this problem i have it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Craig B |

If that is the case then I suspect very much that even if you have the latest 64 bit network drivers in your Vista x64 main install they are not good enough. I have seen mention here that in some cases drivers or BIOS:es are not up to the task until the suppliers issue several newer versions and finally get their act together... In such a case all you can do is to regularly check for newer drivers and wait until one that works appears. :-( -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |
