Can VPC see Parallel Port/Security Dongle?

Quite a few months ago, I tried using Virtual PC 2004 to run a Windows 98
guest OS for a program that uses a security dongle on the parallel port. I
never got it to work properly.
I just downloaded VPC 2007, and I guess I'll give it a whirl, but I was just
wondering if anybody here has tried anything similar and gotten it to work.

Yes, I do it all the time with VPC2004SP1.
The trick is to make sure that LPT1 on the host is not blocked by
*any* software such as the Print Spooler service or any printer driver
that might look for events on the port.

Re: Can VPC see Parallel Port/Security Dongle?

Bo,
Thanks for your reply.
I don't have a local printer hooked up to this computer, so I don't see any
problems with stopping the print spooler service on the host. I'll give that
a try and let you know what happens.
Is there anything else that I need to look for?

Re: Can VPC see Parallel Port/Security Dongle?

That didn't work for me. I only stopped the spooling service, and this
particular computer is not hooked up to ANYTHING.
