The reality depends on the virus' manner of replication. (I doubt that spyware would be a concern). If you used shared networking or shared folders the virus could spread through transferred files for example. Or possibly through networked system interface, though I could not speak to that. Consider this too, one of the popular virus replication methods is to send themselves in emails. You could send -- or have silently sent -- an email from your virtual machine that you then received in your host machine. That could spread it from the VPC to the Host. FACE |

I use cable modem to connect to the Internet. The reason I am using Virutal PC is because I thought that If I am attacked by spyware and computer viruses, the virus will destroy the Virtual PC not my real PC. |

Like if you don't need file sharing on your host, turn it off or block it with a firewall, things like that. But the most important thing about your idea is that yes, it's a whole lot safer. (but you still have to be careful) Run an antivirus app in both the host and the guest.... -- Bob Comer On Thu, 11 Sep 2008 20:17:23 -0700 (PDT), Rich <richmarin@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >On Sep 11, 3:10*pm, Steve Jain <norepl...@-.essjae.com> wrote: Quote: >> On Thu, 11 Sep 2008 14:49:05 -0400, "John" <m...@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >> >"And, if you can send an email from the VM to the host that means there >> >> is a network connection between them and the host is open to any >> >> malware or virus via that network" Quote: >> >Not necessarily a direct network connection between the host and VPC as in >> >sharing files.
