| | Virtual PC & Virtual Joystick in 95 or 95OSR2 I am trying to preserve my entertaining military simulators of yesteryear, and I just succeeded using Virtual PC 97 and a Windows 95 CD and installation program to navigate the labyrinth of DOS and Windows 95 Setup commands to appear to have a working copy of Windows 95 with a few network error messages. Unfortunately, despite the sound card emulation, the Windows 95 program does not seem to recognize my XP Pro-era USB joystick that is plugged into one of my many USB ports. Because Windows 95 would lack drivers for my current joystick, is there a workaround or must I attempt to use my old joystick and plug it into an existing joystick port? (Unfortunately, it intercepts keyboard commands, which would not be compatible with my USB keyboard.) |

So you cannot get any USB device connected to your host to be visible inside a VPC2007 guest. :-( The LPT printer port and COM serial ports of the host can be intercepted and forwarded to a running guest, but I do not bthink you can attach a joystick connected to a 15 pin game port on your host either. If you really want to play this game you need to use a different virtualization product such as VMWare Player, which handles USB device transfer into the guests. -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |
