Virtual PC software

Can anyone give me a link to download Virtual machine software. I have a
laptop with window vista basic home edition, I am presently preparing for IBM
exam and I need a virtual machine to be simulating my reading.

Thanks.

Isaac.

Google on a Microsoft forum?!? Just as easy to just search Microsoft.com

Re: Virtual PC software

But for simplicities sake, when helping out people that cannot figure it out
on their own (probably because they made little to no effort), the Google
home page is much simpler than the Microsoft homepage, less of a chance
they'll have a problem.

Re: Virtual PC software

Historically, you will have better luck finding things on Microsoft's site
by using Google or Altavista or some other search engine, then using
Microsofts own search engine on their own site. Go figure....

Re: Virtual PC software

Mark,

This guy mentioned that he had Vista Home Basic, and so do I .... but when I
try to load an ISO image in VPC07, my computer crashes and reboots.

My laptop is fully patched, VIsta Home Basic SP1, AMD Dual Processor, 4 GB
RAM, 26 GB free space on the HD.

I installed VPC and downloaded an ISO for Linux Lime, which I want to test
for a class I'm taking. The Virtual Machine starts up, then I click on
"Capture ISO image" and when I pick the Lime ISO, it crashes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Try turning off hardware virtualization in VPC and/or the system BIOS.
A bad BIOS implementation of HWV will see symptoms like this.

In VPC, click File==>Options, and uncheck "enable hardware assisted
virtualization" and see if this works.
If you can launch a VM without a crash, check for an updated BIOS for
your system.

Re: Virtual PC software

I did both things - flashed the BIOS and disabled hardware virtualization,
but I'm still locking up and/or crashing and rebooting after Linux gets
started. I've tried it with both Damn Small Linux and Linux Lime.

I suppose I'll just have to unstall VPC07 and download VMWare instead. Phoo!
