I remember since I think it was around that time that USB support came out in Vmware 3. So yeah 6 years and 1 month. |

It's convenient to have a setup where a Development Machine and a Target Machine are actually in one Real machine. And VPC is free - that's the most important thing. Best of luck VPC developers! We hope you can do it! |

| | Re: USB support in Virtual PC 2007 hi Bacuzi, I think I asked a similar post a moth ago, You can use an USB unit by establishing a network with the physical computer, sharing folders, etc. I didn`t have time to implement it, but that is the idea. hope this helps, Carlos. | Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: USB support in Virtual PC 2007 Its been since 2004 that people ask around for USB support in Virtual PC. I've seen a lot of requests about that in many forums. So... Why Virtual PC still not USB ports in 2008?. Even in the service pack 1 that you had time to release they are not supported. Also, I want to know why MS employees perfer telling people to go VMWare instead of saying to wait for the next release that'll include USB support? It is absolutely absurd. I don't know any company that would allow employees to recommend a competitor!!!! Do you intent to support USB ports or not? I think the question is simple and deserve a better answer. It's true that you can't just plug in a USB device and expect it to show up in your Virtual PC. But, you can map USB devices as shared folders. I don't know it this will work for things like Cameras but it works on all the USB storage devices that I have. You can also use USB printers that are connected to the Vista host simply by sharing the printer in Vista then connecting to that printer in the Virtual Machine by supplying the proper credentials. Having said all that, I still agree with the OP that it is sort of a bummer that we can't just have direct access to the USB ports in our virtual machines in VPC 2007. |
