| | "Not running on supported OS" on Vista?? I'm getting the.. "You are not running on a supported operating system. Please see Microsoft Virtual PC help for the list of supported host operating systems. Virtual PC might run on other operating systems, but these configurations will not be supported by Microsoft Product Support Services." .... when I start Virtual PC SP1 for 32kb Vista (I never installed it before this). However I am running a fully updated legally bought version of Vista Premuim 32kb, and I've never before experienced a similar situation like this. The problem results in a error during startup of a virtual machine First: When I try to run Virtual PC when it gets stuck at "Client MAC ADDR: xx xx xx xx xx xx GUID: xxxxxx-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxx (I'ved x'ed the numbers and so on because I assume it might be hazadous to post) Then: It times out after a few mins and says "no bootfilename received" After It says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Inster Boot Media in selected Boot device" Please are there anyone who can assist me? - I cannot see what I have done wrong, not does it appear that other threads have posted similar problems. |

It is telling you that Virtual PC 2007 is not *supported* on Vista Home Premium, because it isn't - you can ignore the warning and continue, if you wish... Quote: > After > It says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Inster Boot Media in > selected Boot device" software virtualisation products) is that they create virtual machines - nothing more, nothing less. These virtual machines are *COMPLETELY* blank, just as if you'd gone to your local PC shop and bought a brand new physical machine with no OS installed on it. When you create a new virtual machine, it will sit and look back at you until you install an operating system on it, just like a physical machine. The message you are seeing means exactly what it says, specifically that you need to install an operating system on the virtual machine. So, choose which OS you want to install, put the CD (or other installation media as required) in the host's optical drive, and reboot the virtual machine. It will (almost certainly) detect the boot media and begin the installation process assuming, of course, that the media you have inserted is actually bootable - the early versions of Windows weren't... -- Mark Rae ASP.NET MVP http://www.markrae.net |
