backing up before xp3

Hi - I managed to set up a virtual XPSP2 drive a while ago and now want to
update it to SP3.

Is there a simple way to back up the whole thing by copying files before
doing so, so that I could just copy those files back again if something goes
wrong?

Thanks

Yes - just use Windows Explorer and copy the virtual hard disk to another
folder, or to the same folder but changing its filename...

Shut down the VM, turn on Undo Disks, restart the VM.
If things go bad, turon off the VM and discard the changes, if things
work, merge the changes.

Thanks - but I need more detailed guidance - in Windows Explorer, where is
the virtual hard disk shown, how is it identified? I'm new at this.

If you select your guest in the VPC2007 console and then go to the
Settings, then highlight the "Hard Disk 1" entry you will find the
exact location of the VHD file in the right hand panel.
This file contains the "hard disk" for the guest...

It's faster to just use Undo Drives, this is specifically what they're
designed for.
Details are in the VPC Help.
