| | 07 MS Virtual PC-Installing on a mapped drive for multiple PC acce Is it possible to install VPC on a mapped network drive and then go to another PC and have it access that same VPC? With that being said, what I am looking at is having multiple PC's having access to a VPC drive and also have those PC's be looking at the LPT port where the original install occured. |

| | Re: 07 MS Virtual PC-Installing on a mapped drive for multiple PC Thanks for the info. What I am dealing with is an old program in which access to the program is dependent on a key being plugged into the LPT port. Only have one of the keys. I was hoping that the VPC could be setup for multiple PC's to access and those PC's would then look to the LPT port on the machine where the vhd resides. | | Re: 07 MS Virtual PC-Installing on a mapped drive for multiple PC You might want to look at something like Terminal Server or Citrix server for that, it may fit the bill better than a virtualization product like VPC. -- Bob Comer On Fri, 17 Oct 2008 07:49:01 -0700, KenB <KenB@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Thanks for the info. If you put it on the network so that several PC:s can access that *file* does not make it any less a file. When the VHD is *used* in a virtual machine, that machine is created in the PC that starts up the VPC2007 application and then the VHD file appears to that virtual computer as the hard disk and it can boot up from it. The fact that it is accessible via the network on the host system does not have any other effects than to slow down the guest since the data access is limited by the network bandwidth. -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |
