Vista Tutorial - External Hard Drive vs Flash Drive

Which is the preferred hardware platform to install new vhd files on an External Hard Drive or HDSD/Flash Drive? I am not as concerned about size, just want to know which one will give me the best performance in the Virtual PC enviroment.

External HD of course. Writes are a big factor in VM performance.

And, there's also the issue with all those read/writes buring out your
flash memory.
