| | how to minimize the virtual PC screen and connect to a network Hi, I am new to Virtial PC. I install Win XP Prof OS on a virtual PC under a laptop that runs on Vista Home Premium OS. 2 questions - 1 - how can I minimize the screen of the Virtual PC so I can switch back to Vista screen from the XP Pro sreen? I try to change the setting of the virtual PC to full screen upon its launch. Will there be any short cut key that I can press on the key board that can minimize the Virtual PC screen (during its running) and I can see the desktop of the Vista screen as to put the Vista screen to full screen? I have unchecked the VPC setting for Display not to be on full screen but it still run on full sreen while I started the VPC 2. Because my laptop OS is Vista Home Premium, I cannot connect it to my office network to a W2003 server. However, after I installed a VPC under WinXP Prof and tried to connect the VPC to the office domain, it still cannot connect under "My Computer - Domain connection. An error message pop up "DNS name does not exist. Error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR". IS it true that even I created a VPC using XP Prof OS, it still cannot connect to my Office Server domian as it staill treat the laptop as a Vista Home Premium OS (I have been told that Only Vista Business can be connected to a domian network? Tks, Paul |

Using the right alt/enter keys again to go to full screen does nothing for me. It only works to minimize from full screen. You may also have to click on the virtual pc icon in the host taskbar to get the task bar to go to the VPC task bar instead of showing both. You may have to click several times. Occasionally it works correctly and you don't need to do this. (I don't have this problem on VMWare Workstation so I think it is bug). I minimize the guest frequently as I have two other guest machines running (they are on VMWare Workstation) and I go back and forth between all three guests and the host. Quote: > 2. I think Vista Ultimate can be connected to a domain network ...not just Vista Business. Seems to me it should not treat the laptop as Vista but see it as the guest XP Pro and connect so maybe something is keeping it from seeing the laptop as XP Pro...some wrong setting maybe? | | Re: how to minimize the virtual PC screen and connect to a network Regarding joining a guest machine to Domain should be no different than how you would do that for a physical machine. The host OS should not come into play here. - Can you please state how your NIC for the guest is configured? - Also ipconfig /all for both physical and guest OS. - How do you connect to your office? VPN?
