vmm.sys bsod

I get frequent BSOD from vmm.sys. I've poked around a bit and found that
this isn't that uncommon for both vpc2004 and vpc2007. Has anyone here
experienced this, and more important have any ideas how to prevent it?

Foxconn A79AS that is otherwise rock solid.
XP64
4GB ram
twin ATI 3870s, crossfired.

I'd say it's uncommon. It rarely comes up here, and I don't recall
ever getting one, except with Toshiba's poor HW Virt implementation on
my M400, they got it right after the 3rd or 4th try.
First thing I'd try is to update your BIOS, could be something with
the hardware virtualization implemenation.
Have you run a memory test on your RAM? A lot of times you'll
discover bad hardware when running VM software since you're stressing
a lot more than you normally do.

Alas - the BSODs continue. What is interesting is that they don't occur
while using the VM. They occur when I close the vpc control panel or console
or whatever you call it, after the VMs have already been closed.

I use VirtualBox all day long, every day. No problems. Tried different
settings for VPC, including disabling hardware virtualization. I think I'll
next disable hardware virtualization in the BIOS and see what happens.

Yes to the memory test. Plus everything else works fine, and I have all
kinds of junk on this box.

Disabling the HW Virt in the bios will rule out a bios issue. On my
M400, I'd get BSOD or hangs with it enabled, but it worked fine
disabled, until they finally updated the bios.

good luck
