curious about the pre-compactor

Win XP Pro SP2
MS Virtual Machine 2007

Should the "Virtual Disk Precompactor.iso" leave a runnable vhd?

If you mean after you run it in an existing Windows OS VM, most
definitely it should.

All it does write 0's to any unallocated bytes on the disk (VHD).
