| | Run a Backup VHD in a VPC? Is it possible to create a Virtual PC 2007 machine from a disk image (*.VHD file) made by Vista's Complete PC backup? If so, how would I do this please? Thanks NigelS |

| | Re: Run a Backup VHD in a VPC? "Virtually" impossible. Any machine you get the Vista image from would have radically different hardware than what is emulated in the VM. I also imagine it is a huge violation of copyright. GP ---> Quote: > Is it possible to create a Virtual PC 2007 machine from a disk image (*.VHD > file) made by Vista's Complete PC backup? You can mount it as a secondary VHD in a VM and access the files that way though. -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ |

| | Re: Run a Backup VHD in a VPC? Thanks Steve I wasn't aiming to break copyright; merely access some of my files off the backup without going through the hassle of reinstalling the entire image. | | Re: Run a Backup VHD in a VPC? In which case, Steve's answer is right on. Mount it as a secondary hard drive and grab what you want from it. I am wondering, though, if perhaps the OS that saved it might have compressed files instead of making a bit-for-bit copy. I guess that depends on the OS then. Good luck.
