I had the same problem. Virtual PC 2007 did not boot from the DVD, but it actually did from CD. It has taken me hours to figure out that Virtual PC needs to be run as Administrator to be able to access DVDs. (How ever, there is actually not need to be Administrator to access a CD in the DVD drive)

I have the same setup...

I had trouble booting a VM from the host physical CD drive when the
disk was a DVD. Since it would anyway be very slow I gave up and I
*never* use the physical drive anymore. I always make an ISO from any
disk I need to access from the VM and then I capture the ISO file into
the emulated optical drive in the VM.
This always works and is quite fast too.

RE: Virtual PC 2007 will not boot from my CD drive

Thanks for the the tip. I was not able to access CDs or DVDs until I ran VPC
2007 as administrator. Now I'm good to go. I'm running Vist-32 business.
