| | Problem with stability of VM I have a problem... Equipment: Dell Inspiron 530 running core2 4-processor, 3gb, 2-500gb disks C:/D:, E: host: XP sp3, networked, everything in "workgroup". host network:Intel MT1000 gigabit NICs, 4ws, 1 nas, 1 networked printer Everything's fine, working as they should. I created an XPHome and an XPPro VM with 1gb mem, 2gb static VD. They ran well and up to speed, the VM Additions and internet worked properly. Each shared drive E: They were on the network, they connected to MSN.COM, showed up on the other machines, and could move data to and from them and the NAS. They seemed to work as they should, though they seem to have a problem finding the printer and getting activated. I'll handle that later. But after a few days of use, a problem cropped up. After a while it started giving error messages that a file was corrupted and needed to be repaired, then several more, on both of them. I assumed it was something common, so that left the VPC program itself or my WS. The computer was operating as it should with no errors, [ever]. I rebooted the host, and then the guest, and brought them up, and had the same problems. I rebooted the VM again and ended up with 4-bit color and a very slow machine. I rebooted the host again and nothing had changed. I uninstalled VPC and deleted everything, downloaded new files, including a seperate .iso of the VM additions, and reinstalled VPC and then the OS, just XP Pro this time The same thing, without the period of normal behavior. I noticed when I was in 4-bit/slow mode, I'd run the VMadditions program to reinstall the programs, and it asked me if I wanted to remove them, showing that it thought they were installed. When I "removed" them, I got a fastcomputer with a full color display. I'd think it might be my machine, but CAD and other programs run fine, and nothing has come up at boot. What am I overlooking? Maybe I'm just frustrated and am missing something obvious. -- .. -=ed .. |

| | Re: Problem with stability of VM the problem is strictly related to your machine.
