Vista - windows image files .wim

I have a dual boot system XP Pro and Vista Business.

I have taken an image of the old XP installation to run in Virtual PC 2007
on the Vista Business OS on the same PC - removing the dual boot option.

I used imagex to create the MyXP.wim file (only one image in the file).
Copied that to a virtual HD and prepared a boot disk virtual HD, both created
using another virtual XP Pro (in virtual pc 2007, on same PC)

However when I try and apply the .wim image to a new Virtual PC on the same
hardware as the original imaged XP pro:

command line: imagex.exe /apply d:\MyXP.wim 1 c:

it fails with error message:

"error opening file [d:\MyXP.wim] error GLE = 13"

I have checked - d:\MyXP.wim is present on drive D in the new virtual PC.

I am new to .wim file imaging and virtual PC so any help would be appreciated.
