1) Does your cable modem have a built-in DHCP server?

2) If not, do you have a router?

3) Can you ping your cable modem and/or router from the guest?

4) Which edition of Vista is on your host?

5) What OS did you install on the guest?

1) Open the Virtual PC helpfile

2) Search for the topic "Accessing the Web, e-mail, and other online
services from a virtual machine."

3) Follow the instructions.
