| | AV Software on Win98 VPCs - Problems Hello all... I'm encountering difficulties when I try to install AV software onto a virtual Windows 98 computer. I've tried Avast and AVG, and both fail somehow. Avast merely locks up the virtual PC during installation; AVG triggers a Virtual PC error message about an unrecoverable processor error and then resets the virtual machine. This happens in Virtual PC 2007 running on Windows SP SP3. It has happened on Win98 guests that had the virtual machine additions installed and on those that did not. Is there something inherent in AV software that VPC doesn't like on a Win98 guest? A number of W2K and XP VPCs run AV software without incident (Avast and AVG). |
