Disable Hardware Virtualization in VPC first and see if this helps, if
it does then try updating your host PC's bios to the most recent
version.

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R Motherboard, 4GB Ram, all my hdd's and dvd
rom's are sata and set to ide mode, the chip set is Intel P35 and ICH9R, the
proccessor is Intel Core2 CPU 6320 @ 1.86GHz, the graphics is a NVIDIA
GeForce 8600GT, the network port is Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E
Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) and the sound card is RealTek ALC 889
A HD Audio.

All the drivers are the latest update.

I have Disable Hardware Virtualization and have used my ide cd drive and
windows install ok. How do I get the usbs to work with 98?

VPC does not support USB. You'll need either VMWare or Virtual Box
for that.
