Bingo on the hardware acceleration settings. Running as host Vista64, as vm Server2003.

Am also getting mouse hesitatin on my Sony VIAO VGN-AW125/J. Of course I
went outside the boundries and installed VPC 2007 SP1 within Vista HP/64bit
(on advice of multiple users on a video editing forum who claim great success
with V HP 64).

If you've installed the VPC additions in the VM, then try this, it
helped my HP laptop IMMENSLY.

Thanks, by moving the hardware acceleration to full helped.
