I just found this article. I was having the same problem. I went to the action menu and clicked to install the VM additions. Every time, it said it was uninstalling the additions. Anyways, it *always* said it UNinstalling instead of installing.
So, go to the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and remove VM additions. Then reboot and click Action -> Install or Update VM additions. This will install it and then reboot. Presto, I can now move the cursor right outside of the virtual window.
