Specifically, you are trying to install a Windows app on a VM running XP with 2.5GB RAM and are getting an error message claiming about lack of memory despite the fact that the VM has 2.5GB RAM assigned to it. You say that you are able to install it on Vista, but that it won't run properly. However, judging from the website that you provided, system RAM isn't the problem. Instead, it's looking like video RAM is the problem: "Video Display Adaptor: 128 MB RAM". Virtual machines emulate a graphics card, as they do with almost all other hardware, and in this case the emulated graphics card supports a maximum of 16MB... Assuming this is actually the problem, then regrettably you're never going to be able to install this software on a VPC virtual machine, nor on any other software virtualisation technology... -- Mark Rae ASP.NET MVP http://www.markrae.net |

Yikes, such is life in the Windows world. Well, I'm off to un-install my VM. I have had success installing the Visix in the compatability mode, I''m hoping it stays that way. My problem now lies with the scanner and it's drivers, but that is an issue unrelated to virtual PC. I bid you all good-bye and thank you very much for all of your help. Now... is there a newsgroup for Windows Compatability Mode, just in case??? Regards, Don |
