Problem loading VPC in Win Vista

Hello,
I had to get a new desktop and it came with Win Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I
tried installing my copy of Virtual pc 2004 and a prompt came up saying there
were compatability issues with VPC on my os. The MS website didn't seem to
offer any resolutions. So I tried downloading the free copyof VPC 2007-even
though it doesn't list my version of Vista as supported- for 64 bit and while
it seemed like it was installing nothing happened.
Does anyone know how
1. I can get VPC 2004 working on my system.
2. or how I can get VPC 2007 working on my Vista version?
Or if there are any way to get some version of VPC working on my system.
Thanks, God bless
Van

As long as you have the 64-bit version of VPC 2007 it should work. It is
not supported on Home premium but it should work fine.

Did you use the "run as administrator" option to install it? UAC might
have prevented the installation from running.

Re: Problem loading VPC in Win Vista

Thanks for your reply Bill. I'm new to Vista but I believe I am shown as the
administrator. Is there something I need to do to "Run as administrator"?
Thanks
Van

That's not what Bill asked...

Right-click setup.exe and click "Run as administrator"...

Re: Problem loading VPC in Win Vista

While ignoring the person who is "anonymous".
I am new to the board, but not new to the Virtualization Scheme.
You would be better off installing VPC2007 instead of the 04 version is you
are using Vista. I have read many posts, outside these boards, that state the
older version works fine in XP no matter the sp installed. With Vista the
older version, VPC04, runs into issues with the hyper layer. This issue stems
from VPC04's inability to travers Vista's file structure and use particular
..dll's without permission even if it is installed with the "run as
administrator" value.
I hope this helps. If I have any misunderstanding of how VPC04 gains access
to Vista system folders please correct me as I do not want to mis-inform any
board members.
