MS DOS on VPC

I am using VPC on a Vista computer with NTFS file system. I can boot a VPC
into MS DOS (6.22) via a bootable CD however it only recognizes the CD ROM
drive (gives it letters A and R). I have created a vhd for this machine. Is
it because of the NTFS file system that the VPC when booted into DOS does
not recognize the C drive (vhd drive)? Any suggestions?

Since my DOS is on old floppies I have not tried the booting from the
floppies because I don't have a floppy drive. I guess moving each floppy (
Image) to a CD may be the best way.

Creating a VHD does not format it. Your "C" drive is just unformatted.
Format it using the DOS format command from your booted CD.

No it isn't. It's because when a VHD is first created it contains no
partitions, just like a physical hard disk.

Create a partition on the VHD and format it so that DOS can see it.

Either that or add a floppy drive to the host - you'll be amazed how cheap
they are - or attach a USB floppy device to the host...

Actually, it's not just unformatted; it's unpartitioned...

It will need to be partitioned with the DOS FDISK command first...

Yeah, I forgot about that. It's been a *long* time. :-)
