| | USB ports in VPC? Howdy! I installed VPC in my Vista PC so I could still run XP and some older apps that do not do well with Vista. However, I cannot make my VM "see" the USB ports of the host computer. Apparently VPC does nto support USB ports or am I missing anything? If VPC does not support USB, is there any other vistualization software you recommend? USB is used everywhere and it sucks not being able to use those ports. Thansk in advance. |

| | Re: USB ports in VPC? VPC doesn't support USB ports as USB ports. You can map a network drive, for instance, if it is connected to the host USB port though. Things like that. VMWare will support USB ports. VMWare has USB support in most of its virtualization products, most devices will work, but some will not. Parallels also has USB support and so does VirtualBox. (though I really would recommend those two, not stable enough for me.) -- Bob Comer On Sat, 3 Jan 2009 13:16:11 -0800, Rossi <Rossi@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Howdy! > >I installed VPC in my Vista PC so I could still run XP and some older apps >that do not do well with Vista. > >However, I cannot make my VM "see" the USB ports of the host computer. >Apparently VPC does nto support USB ports or am I missing anything? > >If VPC does not support USB, is there any other vistualization software you >recommend? | | RE: USB ports in VPC? This is all you have to do as far as transferring DATA. 1. Make sure your Virtual PC OS is open then minimize or make it smaller then real OS so that you can Drag and Drop DATA into it. 2. plug in your USB flash drive or digital camera or anything with DATA. 3. Copy it to your main OS first like you normal would. 4. Then just Drag & Drop it into your Virtual PC's Desktop or where you normally store data. Works Excellent for me. one thing.... make sure that the Virtual PC window is close to the Data where you will be dragging & dropping . |

| | RE: USB ports in VPC? From the host plug in the flash drive, go to my computer right click the device and either go to sharing or if it is not listed properties, then share the device you may have to click advanced sharing and GIVE IT A SIMPLE NAME eg: drive, joe. PS: get windows 7 beta for vPC "Rossi" wrote: Quote: > Howdy! > > I installed VPC in my Vista PC so I could still run XP and some older apps > that do not do well with Vista. > > However, I cannot make my VM "see" the USB ports of the host computer. > Apparently VPC does nto support USB ports or am I missing anything? > > If VPC does not support USB, is there any other vistualization software you > recommend?
