changes in color in image program

I have installed vpc and within that I have installed winxp. I installed my
imaging photo program in winxp because it would not run in vista. it is a
32bit
Now when I try to use it the colors change to 4 bit. I then go to control
panel and change it to 32bit but it doesn't change. How can I run this
program correctly?

Re: changes in color in image program

It could very well be the imaging program itself. The video card
emulated is a Trio-S3 card and it only has 8Mb of RAM. The RAM can be
increased to 16Mb by editing the VMC file (it is in XML) and changing 8
to 16. I don't know if this will solve your problem though. What
imaging program are you using? I have used Ulead PhotoImpact
successfully, but only version 4.0. Any higher and the colors begin to
"wash out".

Re: changes in color in image program

I am trying to use an old Adobe Photo Deluxe 2.0. It worked perfect in my
windows xp in my old computer. I only installed vpc so that I could use this
program. It isn't supported by Adobe anymore. Right now I am also connected
to my old pc running win xpsp2 and the program runs fine.???

Re: changes in color in image program

True enough, but I bet your video card in the old XP machine was a bit
more robust than a Trio-S3.

Chances are that the "imaging photo program" tries to access the video
graphics system in a way thta is not supported by the *emulated* video
card inside the virtual machine.
No matter what hardware you have in the physical host PC inside the
virtual machine you will only get a rather mediocre (for game, video
and image manipulation) S3 Trio64 graphics card with 8 Mb of RAM
(possible to increase to 16 Mb)....

Re: changes in color in image program

I have discovered that when I open Adobe Photo Deluxe then go to the control
panel and settings and change the 8bit to 32bit, I get a message that if I
want than configuration to click yes. That makes the program work correctly.
The next time I use the program I have to go thru it all again. Maybe this
the only solution.
