Install Virtual Machine additions on Server 2008 server core.

I'm using Virtual PC 2007 sp1 on a host Windows XP machine. I created a
Virtual Machine running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Server Core. How can I
install Virtual Machine Additions for this Server Core 08 VM? I did try to
install but not succeeded. What I did is go to comand prompt and run setup.

    D:\windows\setup.exe

Volume in drive D is VMADDITIONS13.820

When it was almost finished, it run "rolling back action" and display the
message "Setup was interrupted before Virtual Machine Additions could be
    completely installed".

Does any body know how to fix it?

    Thank you very much

Firstly, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise isn't a supported guest OS on VPC
    2007 SP1.

The only officially supported guest OS (and, therefore, the only OS for
    which additions exist) are:

Windows Vista Business, Enterprise & Ultimate
    Windows XP Home & Professional
    Windows 2000 Professional
    Windows 98 Second Edition
    OS/2 Warp 4

I can't be 100% certain, but this may very well be the problem...

However the VPC2007SP1 additions do install in Windows7....

Yes, but that's a workstation OS, not a server OS...

The "VM Additions" are just a new video driver and a couple of services.
If the files can be isolated I imagine you would install them the same as
any other driver or service in 2008 core: with some command line magic.

I installed successfully Virtual Machine Additions with Windows Server 2008
Enterprise but not with Server Core. I want to install Additions on Server
Core just because to make the cursor move easily between host and VM.

You know, I hate it when people post things without knowing the facts...Windows 2008 is a supported guest under VPC2007.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro.../overview.mspx

To get VMA to install disable the sound card for the VM. That should do it.
