| | Installing Windows 7 Beta I installed VirtualPC 2007, and created a virtual disk. I then went to install Windows 7 Beta on that virtual disk, but it said that it was going to install on 60GB. I only have 27 GB free on that partition. Do I just ignore this, or what? -- Asking a question? Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about, your OS, Service Pack level and the FULL contents of any error message(s) |

| | RE: Installing Windows 7 Beta If you used the Vista option for initializing your Windows 7 VPC, then the default virtual disk size is 64gb. However, by default, the virtual disks are dynamically sized depending upon what is installed on the VPC, so I think that you'll be OK for a while. -- Don "Gordon" wrote: Quote: > I installed VirtualPC 2007, and created a virtual disk. The only way seems to be using VISTA as the template. If you have already installed Win7 using the Other template do as follows: 1) Close down the virtual machine 2) Delete it from the VPC console (this won't touch the VHD file) 3) Delete the Win7 WMC file 4) Use the VPC Wizard to create a new guest using the VISTA template 5) When it reaches the disk step, select "existing" and browse to the VHD file where you installed Win7 This way you will keep your invested effort in installing the Win7 OS and when it starts up it will PnP and find the new hardware (mainly the sound subsystem). Note that Win7 in VPC2007SP1 runs rather slow, so much so as to be nearly unusable, unless you enable hardware virtualization for the Win7 guest. I don't have a VT capable host PC so I gave up on Win7 for the time being... -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |

Yes for me (no hardware virtualization) it is almost unusable. But on VMWare Workstation it works much better. -- David Wilkinson Visual C++ MVP |
